Super Moon?

Okay, so supposedly there's going to be a "super moon" this weekend. What's that? Apparently it means that the moon will be full AND be the closest it's been to the Earth in a long time. Not sure how exactly that works, but I guess we'll see (if it's not cloudy or snowing). I'm planning on going out to try to take some pictures of the moon that night, but I'll be avoiding the Lookout, as I suspect it will be packed with moon-watchers curious to see if the Phantom will brave the cold and walk on the lake. Rumor has it that the Phantom ALWAYS walks on the lake during the full moon but you can only see it when the air is warmer, so it's hard to say. I'd hate to miss a sight like a "super moon" in the sky by staring down at the lake all night, but to each their own.

Daylight Savings

Boy, it's a good thing that cell phones and computers change time automatically so that I'm reminded to change all my other clocks. I had been meaning to look up the date of Daylight Savings Time, but forgot. I wonder how long it would have taken me to notice that my wall clock was an hour off my cell phone time? It's probably a good thing that someone mentioned it to me this morning, otherwise it might have been a while. ;-)

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I know I'm a couple days late, but the sentiment is still the same. I went for a walk this morning and the trees were just BEAUTIFUL with all the frost on them. I really need to get out and take some pictures. It's amazing how nature can paint such beautiful pictures.

Back to class tomorrow. Had a great Christmas break. Our performance of "The Phantom of the Opera" was PERFECT. Almost everyone in town saw it and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The Drama Club is off until next week, then we'll be back to work and we'll be picking our next play at that meeting. If you want to join, just talk to me or the Professor or Ms. Mabel for details.

snow

It's certainly looking "a lot like Christmas" here, as the song says. Everything is blanketed by a thick layer of snow, including the trees. It's hard to believe that it's not technically winter for a couple more days.

skating

Well, it has been cold enough for long enough that the outdoor rink is open for skating. I was never great on skates as a kid, so it's an interesting experience for me to be trying to "re-learn" to skate. I purchased hockey skates about a month ago and I've gone to the rink three times. I can't skate for very long - my ankles just aren't used to the movement - but I enjoy it and I feel great after I do it. They say it is great exercise, and it's a step in the right direction if I want to pursue actually playing hockey. There isn't a women's team here in town, but I think there's one in the area, so once I get better at skating, and save up enough to buy some more gear, I'll have to look into it.
